For the meal hubby steamed diced pork, clams, rice, water, sliced enoki, maitake, and shitake mushrooms, bonito dashi, white wine, and soy sauce in a rice cooker; when finished, the mixture was combined with grated parmesan cheese and chopped scallions; added a small iceberg lettuce, arugula, sliced cucumber, cherry tomato, and chopped scallion salad drizzled with a creamy French dressing; and completed the meal with a small bowl of instant miso soup.

This meal by hubby combined leftover Obon goodies with instant soup and a new way to cook a favorite dish, Papa’s Steamed Chicken-Rice Dinner:

Inspired by a local satellite TV show, hubby steamed rice, chopped chicken, mirin, dashi, sliced dehydrated Shitake mushrooms, and soy sauce in a rice cooker and garnished the dish with chopped fresh scallions; added a side plate of reheated frozen leftover Obon goodies – kamaboko, pork, tempura, tofu, etc.; and completed the meal with an instant suimono soup.
