For the meal, hubby sautéed sliced pork in olive oil; then added garlic chips, fresh mushrooms, blanched potato slices, chopped nira, oyster sauce, white pepper, and soy sauce.

This “oba-style” bento is very similar to bento#14 with rice, umeboshi, yakisoba, a karashina-tuna-fu mix, omelette, pork luncheon meat (spam), and deep-fried pork cutlet with sauce.

1 Can opener 1 Knife 1 Cutting board 4 Toothpicks

1 Can cream of mushroom soup

1 Can chili beans with sauce

1 Small can sliced mushrooms

4 Medium flour tortillas

4 Cherry tomatoes

¼ Red onion

1 Pound ground beef

¼ Cup red wine

¼ Cup milk

1 Tablespoon minced garlic paste

1 Tablespoon white pepper

1 Tablespoon dried parsley flakes

Iceberg lettuce leaves

Soft cream cheese

Dried cilantro flakes

A little something hubby whipped up for the two of us this T-Day, Papa’s Turkey Day Feast 2006:

The meal consisted of roasted turkey with gravy from a local vendor, canned cranberry sauce, black olives, boiled frozen green beans, chpped carrot boiled with chicken broth granules, and mashed potatoes with butter, cream, nutmeg, and white pepper.

This is another of the “oba-style” bentos available on island that is similar to bento #46. This one has mackerel, kamaboko, rice, umeboshi, goya chanpuru, gobo, sausage, potato-veggie mixture, and konyaku .

I’m not much of a morning muncher. Usually I eat something light like toast with cheese and coffee or the occassional bowl of ochazuke. Hubby, on the other hand, enjoys a hearty morning meal. This is something he put together, Papa’s Negi-Nato Omelette Breakfast:

For the meal, he created an omelette filled with scallions and fermented soy beans cooked in sesame oil and sprinkled with soy sauce; and added miso soup, dried sardines, rice topped with cracked black sesame seeds, and nori.

For the dish, hubby created a mixture of shrimp, diced white onion, chopped Chinese cabbage, sliced shitake mushrooms, scallions, dried garlic slivers, white pepper, chicken broth granules, and toubanjyan sauce served with rice topped with cracked black sesame seeds.

1 Tablespoon dried parsley flakes

1 Teaspoon powdered cumin

1 Whole wheat dinner roll
