For those times when a smaller meal will do the trick, something like this version of a local convenience store bento might be the answer. Included in the meal was rice, katsubushi, seaweed paste, nori, yakitori, pork luncheon meat (spam), and omelet sprinkled with parsley flakes.

This is what I call a Japanese-style “frozen” dinner, Insta-Dinner:

The meal consisted of frozen okonomiyaki from Osaka and frozen spinach in wonton wrappers that were “cooked” in a microwave and instant miso soup. The only thing that wasn’t instant or premade was the sauce for the spinach wontons which consisted of soysauce, white wine vinegar, sesame oil, and topanjyan paste.

This version of mini-sandwich had horseradish and whole-grain mustard on a whole wheat dinner roll, topped with iceberg lettuce, fresh basil, sliced cherry tomato, ham, and onion cheese (tastes just like onion chip dip).
