Japanese “Fast Food” – Bento #64

This is a different style of take-out bento meal from a local convenience store featuring fried rice with daikon, spring roll, deep-fried white fish with a tomato-based sauce, sweet-n-sour kamaboko wit onions and carrots, cabbage and carrot mix, potato salad, and minced pork wrapped in wonton.

This is another of hubby’s delish home cooked meals similar to the dinner he prepared in December, Papa’s Spicy Spaghetti Dinner:

This time hubby used olive oil, julienned spicy pork sausage, fresh Eringi and Shitake mushrooms, red and green bell peppers, and white onion with fresh chopped basil, spaghetti, and grated parmesan cheese. To acompany the dish, a salad of iceberg lettuce, white onion, arugula, salad greens, and chopped cherry tomatoes with a creamy sesame dressing.

This version of local take-out meals is similar to Bento #62 with chicken, potato croquette, mini-hamburger, pork luncehon meat (spam), daikon, carrot-egg mix, a konbu-konyaku mix, and deep-fried mackerel.

Equipment and All Ingredients Needed

2 Frying pans 2 Stovetop burners 6 Toothpicks

1 Knife 1 Cutting board

20 Frozen shrimp

30 Frozen green beans

3 Slices bacon

1 Small red pepper

1 Large Shitake mushroom

½ Medium white onion

½ Cup white wine

1 Tablespoon olive oil

1 Tablespoon minced garlic paste

1 Tablespoon sesame oil

1 Tablespoon butter

1 Tablespoon white pepper

1 Teaspoon dried oregano flakes

1 Teaspoon minced ginger paste

Whole wheat dinner rolls

Fresh chives

This is another of the convenience store versions of a local wintertime favorite (oden) with hamhock, egg, cow tongue, daikon, kamaboko, sausage, konyaku, pork, and stuffed cabbage rolls, in a clear broth with a spicy mustard condiment. As a side order for the meal, a serving of negitoro (onion and tuna) sushi.

This is a super-quick lunch put together from leftovers, Ginger Pork – Chicken Pasta Lunch:

Simply slice whole wheat dinner rolls; fill with one leftover Ginger-Pork medallion per roll topped with fresh basil leaves and crumbled baby cheese; heat in microwave for 1.5 minutes; remove from microwave and heat leftover Chicken Pot Pie filling. Meanwhile, add iceberg lettuce and cherry tomato slices to pork mini-sandwiches; plate sandwiches and chicken pasta; top pasta with cracked black sesame seeds.

This is another version of the local “oba-style” take-out meals with rice, a goya (bitter melon) and moyashi (soybean sprout) mix, potato croquette, mini-hamburger, pork luncehon meat (spam), daikon, carrot-egg mix, a konbu-konyaku mix, and deep-fried mackerel.

A simple and quick way to enjoy one of my favorite cool weather dishes, Soft-Crust Chicken Pot Pie:

The dish included chopped chicken thigh, olive oil, diced carrot and white onion, fresh rosemary leaves, white pepper, minced garlic paste, minced ginger paste, milk, frozen bean mix, chopped fresh basil, 5-Cheese Pasta, egg, and tortillas.

Equipment and All Ingredients Needed

1 Medium pot 1 Frying pan 2 Stovetop burners 1 Microwave oven

1 Small whisk 1 Knife 1 Cutting board

1 Large boneless chicken thigh

1 ¼ Cups frozen bean mix

4 Tortillas

1 Medium egg

½ Large carrot

½ Medium white onion

2 Cups 5-Cheese Pasta

½ Cup milk

1 Tablespoon olive oil

1 Tablespoon minced garlic paste

1 Tablespoon fresh rosemary

1 Teaspoon dried parsley flakes

1 Teaspoon white pepper

1 Teaspoon water

½ Teaspoon minced ginger paste

4 Medium fresh basil sprigs

For the meal hubby used chopped bell pepper and carrot, shrimp, Shitake mushrooms, julienned squid, red miso paste, sesame oil, white pepper, minced garlic paste, minced ginger paste, scallion, and rice topped with cracked black sesame seeds.
